Dear Potential Distributor,
Here is some background information for your consideration.
We recently negotiated a three year European contract, until July 2010, with the provincial government agents of Yunnan and Guizhou in Southern China to promote their tourism and re-generation initiative. However we fully expect an extension to the promotional period until 2015 and for additional provinces, like Sichuan, to be brought into the promotion.
The promotion is in the form of beautifully presented travel books that contain vouchers offering a 50% discount at over 200 visitor attractions in Yunnan and Guizhou. These include day boat trips, white water rafting, volcanoes, snow covered mountains, natural hot springs and lots more. There is a good quality photograph of each attraction with a corresponding explanation of what it is and where it is, together with some cultural/historical comment. After visiting the attraction, the book voucher - which stays in the book - is stamped and the book kept as a travel souvenir.
The books can be re-designed to carry corporate logo/colours/advertising etc.
The face value of the 'entrance fees' to the locations featured totals more than £500 and no one ( I don't think so anyway! ) will visit every location but what it gives visitors to these provinces, is a choice of places to go and things to do outside of the traditional tours and locations.
In Asia the books are bought by large organisations such as Japan Airlines, Lenovo and Mercedes, and are given as promotional packs or gifts. For example, JAL gives a pack to all their business and first class passengers, Lenovo are using the packs in relation to the 2008 Olympics and Mercedes presents a pack to everyone buying a new car.
In Europe our marketing will have to be a little different - very few people know of these places. That's why we are exploring as many channels and opportunities as we can to bring the books to market, and that's why we would like to meet for further discussion.
The bottom line financially: although there is a maximum re-sale price restriction in our distributor contract, because of the Chinese government subsidy, we have constructed our pricing to make a distributorship an attractive business proposition..
Thank you once again for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
